Columbia Foursquare Church was founded in 1981 by Pastor David Lanning and his wife, Pam. A former scientist and engineer, David connected with the scientific community in Richland. The new church met for several years in the Community Center until they purchased the current parcel of land. The congregation spent nearly five years remodeling an existing structure that served previously as a neighborhood supermarket, TV store, and a meat locker.
Pastor Jon Brandstetter and his wife, Candy, came to Richland in August of 1993. Two months after their arrival, the newly remodeled church burned to the ground. Over the
next three years, the congregation met in the Richland Seventh-day Adventist Church while constructing a new facility.
The church moved into the current building in the fall of 1996 and has served the neighborhood and community with the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ ever since.
The church has experienced several sovereign movements of God in the intervening years. For nearly five years, Columbia Foursquare hosted a trans-denominational youth church, called "The River," that attracted up to 500 young people every week.
We are currently pursuing a modified small group church model of ministry. Small groups provide an exciting strategy for leadership development and evangelism. Our vision is to win souls and make disciples in the context of loving God, loving one another, and loving the lost.
